When Life Feels Like Too Much Or Not Enough

Trauma therapist in Seattle offering EMDR and DBT, seated in a welcoming counseling office

Some days it feels like you’re just trying to get through the hours. From the moment you wake up, there’s already that heavy feeling that you’re behind, stressed about work, home, relationships, and everything in between.

You keep thinking you should be happier or handling things better, yet you find yourself overthinking every detail, replaying conversations and “what ifs” in your mind until you’re completely drained.

Even when life isn’t that busy, it still feels overwhelming.

Small things can set you off, and you catch yourself wondering, “Why do I make such a big deal out of things that shouldn’t be a big deal?”

Maybe you’ve been told you’re too sensitive, and part of you believes it. Most days, you move through life doing what needs to be done, but inside, you feel like you’re falling apart.

There are moments when you cry without knowing exactly why or when it feels like you’re stuck in a dark hole you can’t climb out of.

It’s exhausting to question your emotions all the time, and it’s hard to trust what you feel or imagine that things could actually get better.

Hi, my name is Diane Dempcy, a trauma therapist in Seattle.

As a therapist in Seattle, clients turn to me when life feels too heavy to manage alone.

I work with people who feel overwhelmed and ready for something to change. Many of my clients start therapy feeling anxious, stuck, or just worn out from trying to keep it all together.

Over time, something shifts. They begin to understand why certain things set them off and notice that those old triggers don’t feel as strong anymore. They start to catch their patterns sooner, give themselves more grace, and handle stress with a little more ease.

Little by little, the anxiety quiets down. Confidence grows. There’s more space to breathe and make choices that actually feel good.

Many clients tell me they can sit with tough emotions without needing to escape them or fix everything right away. They’re more grounded, less reactive, and far more compassionate with themselves. For some, it feels like finding a steadier center—less depression and anxiety, more balance, and a deeper sense of peace in who they are.

My work as a trauma therapist in Seattle is collaborative and supportive. I’m keenly observant, gently directive, and always focused on creating a space where you feel safe to explore what’s really going on beneath the surface. As a certified EMDR therapist with advanced training, I integrate evidence-based approaches that help you process trauma, reduce anxiety, and build a stronger sense of self.

When I’m not in session, you’ll probably find me chasing my four-year-old Goldendoodle around the park, experimenting with nourishing and delicious recipes, or spending time with family and friends catching a movie or a dance performance.
